Sa Kambas ng Lipunan was a documentary made and narrated by Joey Velasco. Velasco was a religious painter most famous for his artwork titled "Hagap ng Pag-asa". It was a painting that was inspired by "The Last Supper" however, instead of Jesus' apostles, he was dining with the street children from the Philippines. His documentary revolved around the lives and the struggles of the children he painted. Poverty in the Philippines has been around since the foundation of the country. We were once a slave nation, we had no free will, and we had no means to make it big and escape our situation. A bigger power prevented us from rising from the slums for 333 years. Eventually, the Philippines became free. We became a nation of our own, with our own language, with our own culture. We progressed, we developed, and for a while, we were the most prosperous nation in South-East Asia. However, the fact that it was only for a while, is the main issue of our situation today....
